Hello again, 2 weeks in a row! I'm on a roll now! LOL!
This story is also about a regular customer, only this time, in the store.
This is an older woman, she appears to have started down the Hippie Dippie trail, but lost her way. In all the years I've waited on her, The first time she didn't have any issues with her order was this past Monday. Miracle of miracles!
One day, she had bought a bunch of stuff off the clearance rack, and if you've ever even looked at that rack, you know that people have a tendency to pick things up, look at them, and then just plop it back down any old where. So this woman had grabbed a bunch of stuff, and wanted to pay the price that was on the shelf where she got it, rather than the prices that were clearly marked on the items. 2 managers, 20 minutes, and several arguments, and trips to the rack later, she was finally gone.
The most recent issue she had was a couple weeks ago when she wanted to buy a 6 pack of beer. It's NYS policy, and store policy, to ID anyone, and everyone in a group. So when she scanned her beer, the machine wouldn't let her scan anything else until she showed me her ID. I then type the DOB into the order, and it clears the machine for the next item to be scanned. After 5 minutes of arguing with me that she shouldn't need to show her ID as she was clearly Old Enough, she finally handed it over, with a huge, put-upon sigh. As I took it from her and began to type in her DOB, she yelled, "What are you doing?!?!" I told her I needed to enter the date into the computer to clear her machine. "No, nevermind! Take it off, no one needs to know my information!"
Seriously?! You'd think I'd asked for her SSN and mothers maiden name along with, not to mention the license number!
I have customers that won't use the savings card because "the government doesn't need to know what I'm buying". Because the government has nothing to do better than finding out how many men buy tampons and milk in the same order right?
These are the days you go home, hug your kids, and have a stiff drink!
Speaking of kids, now that the first week of the last kids to start school is over, I hope all you parents out there got at least one days rest!
Have a great week, and as usual,
Thanks for Noticing me!
