storms

Well, after the recent storms up here, I've had this unreasonable fascination with the sky.

But you must admit it's pretty!

This little guy is not in a pond, it's the driveway to the strip mall where I work. (:
This was actually an exact week after the storms. Still flooded.

And a little tidbit, that actually happened today; A guy walks up and says to the customer I was dealing with.. "Carrie?" And they proceeded to go back and forth about how she knows the family of the person he thought she was, but she's no relation, and blah, blah... But at one point she was having trouble remembering a name, and kept saying, "you know... so and so's marriage partner" That was how she put it, repeatedly, "marriage partner". Ummm, whatever happened to "wife"? I may be hopelessly old fashioned, and no one can call me "P. C." and now I know why.

As usual...

Lousy Pen-Pal

I have a *pile* of pictures on the camera that haven't been uploaded, scraps of paper stuck every where with notes about the people I deal with every day, and at least 3 people sending me e-mail after e-mail asking if I've fallen off the face of the planet.

I'm so engrossed in finishing my projects that everything is getting ignored, and I'm ashamed.

A couple of months ago, I found out a co-worker is pregnant with a girl. A GIRL! FINALLY! I can *make* stuff! Honestly, I thought I'd only do a blanket. But this pattern I found was so fast, and so simple, yet so pretty, I decided to do the whole set... Booties, bonnet, blanket and sweater. No kidding, I finished the blanket in a week, *just* working on it at work. When I showed the blanket to my mom, she said she had a friend at her gym that was having twin boys, and asked if I could make her a pair of them, and all this needs to be finished this week! Thankfully, I'm almost done.

SO ... pics to follow. (:

Gimme Shelter

Todays post is a subject near and dear to my heart... Rescues.

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm a cat people. (:

I'm a firm believer in procuring my pets from shelters, no- kill, or otherwise. I have no patience for irresponsible pet parenting. These beautiful babies right here should convince you. They were actually adopted by the time we took these pics, but the shelter had to use money to rent a space in the mall in order for this to happen. That's money they could have used to take care of more animals.

Have you ever seen markings like this on a cat before?!

These two reminded me of two of my previous, and deeply missed loves.

The first cat we had, well, to be truthful, adopted us. Just followed one of my parents into the apartment one day. The first fuzzy one here^, reminds me of the first cat I can remember, who decided my dads parking spot, occupied or otherwise, was going to be his new home. Yeeeaaahhh, no. In he came, got cleaned up, and became the best lap-cat in the universe.
The shorthair was a kitten that got (literally) tossed onto a neighbors porch, and being as how Fluffycat had recently passed from skin cancer, they gave us the kitten rather than take him to the shelter. Hello Chuckles of the striped mouth, and awesome fetching skills!
And these little twits.

Both my girls were adopted after we moved up here. Mona was actually "Free" which meant she'd been there so long, they didn't even care about the donation, just give her a home! Issue kitty, but even 5 years later, she gets a little better all the time.

Here is something free you can do as often as you want, just click the link, and bookmark the page. http://www.TheAnimalRescueSite.com/

Please, get your pets fixed! Adoption is the best way to get a pet. They need someone to love as much as you do! And as usual...

How bizarre, how bizarre....

Part one...

1. Almost any commercial on tv

2. What videos people will post of themselves online

3. What videos people will *watch* online

4. The behavior of squirrels

5. What people can find to complain about

6. What people will *love*

7. The behavior of at least 1/2 the customers in a coffee shop on any given day.

To be continued...

Stupid questions

Working in retail, you get some seriously stupid questions. I work in a pre-pay gas station, you pull up to the pump, and there are signs, and a digital screen with instructions. It isn't hard. Really. So, my top five stupid questions. are..

1. Do I have to pre-pay?

(Note, the sign says, "All cash customers need to pre-pay at the kiosk")

2.Where is this "kiosk" I need to pay at?
(Really? So me standing at a cash register inside a small store wasn't a big enough clue?)

3. Why do we need to pre-pay?

4. Can I pump first since I don't know how much it'll take?

5. How much do you think I should pre-pay?

I am a cashier, and I tried answering #3 honestly, with "Because when the prices started rising every day, we got a lot of drive offs, so they switched our system" To which invariably the reply was, "Don't I look honest?" *SIGH* I'm not a high mucky-muck, I don't make the rules, I just suffer under them.

#4 "Of course, go ahead, I'll just skip the whole 'rules' thing in the system just because you're not sure how much gas the car will take. No prob."

I just don't understand why it's so hard to look at the pump before walking in and asking a stupid question.
I have had awesome customers, the ones that come in and ask how to do it, and *listen* to the answer so they don't need to come in more than once.

You aren't stupid because you don't know how to do something, you're stupid for assuming it'll work the way you want it to, just because you're standing there. You're twice as stupid if you come in, ask a question, and don't wait for the whole answer before waving me off and heading out to do it your way anyway.

Thanks for listening to me rant, and as usual folks...

Guilty

Yes, guilty is how I feel. So the main reason nothing has been being posted, aside from laptop issues, is that when I got the new bed, I had to re-arrange things, and I can't seem to find the notebook that I write all my neat little stories (reminders) in.

Today was more of a rant, than amusing... Other than one of my coworkers buying one of those mixed music cd's of am station music. (: The second song... "She's a lady" Tom Jones. I can never hear that song without thinking of Wesley Snipes wearing a dress. (:

So worth 5 minutes of your life! Love this movie! Cracks me up!

And here's the song. ^

Now that you've smiled,
